Background
- High unemployment rate for people with disabilities
- Employers apprehensive about accommodating people with disabilities
- Employer vs. Employee relationship

Background
- Need to address the issues of the employee and employer
- Provide access to VR resources and expertise

Method
- Assemble pieces of VR process to assist people and employers
Retaining A Valued Employee (RAVE)
- Multidisciplinary organizational team
- Provide services very quickly
- Identify and serve needs of worker
- Identify and serve needs of employer
Results
VR employer database showed:
74 job retention consultations
48 employees retained their jobs
Approximately 65% retention rate
Results
- Figures from one large employer over a 3 year period:
- 129 job retention consultations
- 87 employees continued to work
- Approximately a 67% retention rate

Appear to be able to assist about 2/3 of referrals in keeping their jobs
Larger employers return to VR for assistance in disability management
Employers turn to VR for assistance in recruiting new qualified employees
Conclusion
- Multidisciplinary team that partners with employees and employers
is able to successfully help people with disabilities maintain employment
- Study of time, resources, and accommodation efficacy between job retention
cases and placement cases
